Tree felling fail - GIF
-
Where did they think it would go? It looked from the video to be leaning toward the house. The wedge they cut first was not going to compensate for that. You can't fool gravity...
-
Widow maker trees can be tricky to fell where you need them. They had a line attached to it high up why was it slack? The wedge cutout was supposed to serve as a hinge but if the tree is leaning away from the hinge, then the wedge cut should be cut deeper Cutting out a pocket to insert a bottle jack before the felling cut is completed Could have helped to push the tree in the direction away from the building. removing some of the limns on side the tree was leaning would have helped.
If a professional tree removal person tells you he has never dropped a tree in the wrong direction. he is probably too ashamed to admit the truth.

Hope the arborist/logger was insured and bonded.

That looks like a "Hold my beer and watch this!!!!" crew. No one with ANY experience at all would have tried to take that WHOLE TREE down at one time.
SO much more difficult to limb that after the WHOLE mess is on the ground. Should have removed the limbs first.
Looks to me like that house it in bad shape already. May have been staged

Yeah, I noticed the house looked like it needed to be demolished. Maybe it was staged. It would have been simple to crush the house if that was the objective.

The only thing done right was using Stihl saws. That's it. Not even hard hats.
