    A slate roof around here where we get a lot of hail would be like having a thatch roof in California where they have a lot of wild fires. Neither would last very long
    Never try to tell me it can't be done

    Slate roofs are way out of budget for most people. They make synthetic slate for roofs but it is pretty pricey too.

    My wife is from the Ft Worth area and stated "there is hail and then there is Texas hail". In my area on rare occasions we see nickel size hail.
