While I am a fan of Sthil even if that wasn't a 1 off build I don't see me buying one.
A right angle bevel gear transmission with a 195,000 RPM shaft speed is a recipe for disaster.

I like disassters....thats neet!! although In not sure it would like eating much sand or sawdust chips...but...a motor cycle wood be nice too!!

I take me hat off to that compact design & i reckon it would take my ears off as well as my hat if i was to stand (where no one should) in front of the operator

. Imagine the chain blades needed. I love my stihl & it is still working after many years of service.

5.1KW (~6.8hp)....I've seen model air plane engines put that much out. Agreed, prep for disaster at those rpm's! And exactly what is the SFM of the chain...nerry ever let it get loooooose.

However, amazing little Turbine though!

Helicopters have them in their transmissions. There's a gear reduction in that transmission ahead of the bevel gears. All turbine-powered aircraft engines have multiple right-angle PTOs to power the fuel pumps, oil pumps and electrical generators.

True, but the scale of this comparatively brings other challenges at those speeds.

Fair point. These engines are used in RC airplanes and are being repurposed into range extenders for electric cars, so I assume that the scale issue has been worked out.

Speaking of non-traditional turbine-powered things, this video came up in my suggested feed after I viewed the chainsaw video (I follow a lot of locomotive-themed channels).
