I have no reservations eating there [versus I'd]; no hair nets, beard covers, vinyl gloves or stainless worktops visible.
Or an appetite savoring indistinguishable fried clumps. Hush puppies? Fritters? Wrong latitude for me.
GIF title reveals they're hush puppys. I've had them, 50+ years ago.
Same category as puerco chicharrones, cracklins, and other questionable delicacies. The 8th food group, aka "No Thanks".
Yes - hush puppies; forgot to label.
The support pole is a little wobbly, but it looks like he really has a lot of control with this setup.
Those type hush puppies are far more tasty than the rolled into a ball cornmeal hush puppies you find offered so often in restaurants.
Some folks call them corn meal fritters.
Around our house when the kids were growing up they named them spoon drops. I would often mix a little extra flour in the mix to give the batter a little more rise in the hot oil they would come out lighter and fluffy then we sometimes would pour a little hot honey over them and roll them in powdered sugar.
One year the kids elementary school had a fund raising benefit for the school Principal's wife who was going through Chemo.
I supplied a tank of helium for balloons made cotton candy and those spoon drops in the booth I had sat up for my 2 girls they also had painted up buckets full of cockleburs and called them porcupine eggs. Our booth alone brought in over $2,500.00. And I was one tired puppy by the end of the day.
I saw the name & the pic and just had to have a gander. Pic shows a pastry chef's device whereas we used to wear "hush puppies" on our feet. They were a very comfy, long wearing shoe (no wonder they aren't about today). I once saw a size 17 shoe (hush puppy of course) that belonged to "the tallest man in the world". The shoe was displayed in our largest retailer of those shoes for several weeks. (Don't get me started on "UGG BOOTS"!)
Think I rather eat the shoes to your hush puppies , LOL.
Cheers
Check out that fork!
