Universal Vacuum operated Clamping Device

Recently my wife asked me to make new doors and panels for our kitchen cupboards.
That turned out very good and 2 of our friends asked me to renew their kitchen doors also and all together I made over 60 doors and (small) panels.
3 of these panels in the last project were only 23x11 cm. and painting them was not so easy. How to hold and paint them without touching the fresh paint.
So, from scrap material, I made a small 'suction pad' connected to my vacuum cleaner and used that to secure the panel during painting the front and sides and at the end I used the device for painting all the doors.

This worked out very fine and I decided to make me a new and more universal one for future jobs and not only for painting.
So now I have a base 400 x 250 mm. and 2 'adapters' 200x100 mm. and 150x150 mm.

Great idea. Did you leave some room for air to slip through to prevent the vacuum from overloading with a TOO tight seal> something that would not produce a near 100% suction? Thanks.

Until now i didn't make a bypass but it's a good idea and I'll make one.

If you include some form of bypass, please get back to me so I can see / replicate what you tried. B
