    If you're going to make V-blocks, consider this style...

    so they can be laid on their side without interference from the clamp - very handy when drilling/tapping for two orthogonal setscrews, etc.. Also note that the clamps can be inverted to clamp small diameter pieces.

    Making soft brass tips for the clamp screws will prevent marring finished workpieces. They can be permanently attached or removable.

    What did you use for the set screw? Most of the V blocks I have have very weak screws that twist out of line.
