I like your crocodile's jaws. But I would concede it less teeth.
If the long edge (hypothenuse) of the imagined triangle (the 'tooth space') is A=10mm,
then the Dmin of the round stock is 10*0.707=7.07mm
    and the Dmax A*1.414=14.14mm.
For practical reasons add an allowance of 0.2mm which results in Dmin=7.3 and Dmax=13.8.
The next smaller triangle (theoretically) would have a long edge of 7.07 / 1.414 = 5mm. The smallest diameter possible in a 5mm triangle is 5*0.707=3.535mm
The next larger triangle (theoretically) would have a long edge of 14.14 / 0.707 = 20mm. The largest diameter possible in a 20mm triangle is 20*1.414=28.3mm
Therefore 3 'tooth spaces' of A=5 and 10 and 20 would cover a range of 3.5 to 28mm.
(Sorry for not providing a sketch)

@uv8452: That is good thinking. If I make another one (- and a mate would like me to), I'll take up your idea.
    Thank you.
