-Did I miss something? You fitted a scale, all right - but no "sort Vernier" in the normal sense of the word,
as there's no subsidiary scale as far as I could see...
"A vernier scale is visual aid to take an accurate measurement reading
between two graduation markings on a linear scale by using mechanical interpolation;
thereby increasing resolution and reducing measurement uncertainty by using vernier acuity to reduce human estimation error."
You can fit a subsidiary scale to easily get down to 1/20th of your scale graduation like:
Attachment 39112
From:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernier_scale
Might seem a bit picky - but I just can't stand hearing electronic calipers being called "Digital Verniers" any more...
Cheers
Johan
I think you're right, going to change the title.:agree:
No biggie- it wouln't be such a big deal for you to get yourself a real vernier after all.
Wing some engraving facility on your mill: just bolt a small aluminum plate (subscale-to-be) to the table,
put some engraving point/ scriber in the chuck and go.
You could make the subscale to reach up to the 39th scale point (say in 10 divs with 1/2 sub-divs in between),
so that it'll be real easy to read, minimize parallax, and it'll give good resolution down to 1/20 graduation.
Two cents
Johan

A sliding easy clamped/un-clamped mount of a regular digital caliper would be better......
I know what you mean but that's not exactly what I am looking for. It's not similar to a dro but a visual aid for low accuracy work or layout-work.
