Wow, I didn't know 'benchtop' planers were ever made.

That's more colloquially called a shaper I thought.

That's more colloquially called a shaper I thought.

In a shaper the tool moves; in a planer the tool is stationary and the workpiece moves. Thus the planer can accommodate larger workpieces than the shaper can.
