VR goggles repurposed
Attachment 44267Here’s a pair of VR goggles I was given. Now that I have removed the magnifying lenses, I should be able to use them for oxy/acetylene, especially since prescription spectacles fit inside. And they are really comfortable.Attachment 44268

Philip,
I have zero experience with VR goggles so my questions are sincere. I thought that VR goggles provided a video display of some computer generated graphic/activity.
Are you going to use a camera to observe the OA flame/workpiece and input the video into the VR goggles? Or, are you going to view the OR flame/workpiece directly (through a darkening filter)?
Confused.

Ray, likewise, I have zero experience with VR! Either something compact is inserted behind the darkened visor, or it’s plugged into something..I just looked at it and thought, “maybe that’s useful”! Once the lenses are ou, theyre very thick, apparently for close magnification. The shadowed visor comes off easily, I haven’t tried welding with them yet, they may be too fuzzy.

Anything beats the old style, two individual cups over the eyes.
