Nowadays I think mostly phased array radar antenna are used. They don't move.

Phased array antennas are still too costly for commercial aircraft. What we have today are systems that scan autonomously and constantly only allowing the flight crew to interrogate “slices” of memory much like an MRI allows, to examine relevant weather to the flight path or route, as the crew demands. The system also performs continuous evaluations of wind-shear, lightning strike, turbulence, and icing conditions. It’s like having a dedicated weatherman in the flight deck with you, and trust me, airline pilots know very little about “weather,” except what they were told by their “seniors” coming up, which is usually incorrect.
