I love the look of this on an exposed joint but it works great on hidden joints too. I thought it would be more difficult than it was. Just have to trust the math and not be afraid to whack it pretty hard.

That’s too thick a wedge for me. I’m surprised it doesn’t split. What woods being used? If you do this on stopped mortises and haven’t judged it correctly, you may find it’s either loose, or, worse, the tenon doesn’t go home at all.
