Have always been fascinated in how things work and making things and I really love the notion of making my own tools to use - the freedom to tailor-make something for myself. I have no formal training or college learning in engineering, woodwork, so even though I know some basics from secondary school I am pretty much a novice. It was while I was looking for some ideas on tool-making / tool restoring that i came across this site. I am looking forward to browsing and chatting ideas with people.

What kind of things would you like to build first?

Hi Jon
Thanks for the welcome. I'm looking to build or modify tools that can be used on a bench. I need to come up with work-arounds due to mobility issues, so I'm aiming to make tools that are accessible and are , well i guess almost bespoke to fit my needs. I can't buy tools so I need to make them, if possible. For example, a pillar/bench drill, turn a handheld jigsaw into a fretsaw type tool, improve a table saw so that it has blade depth.

Yeah, Still browsing but the projects done by Drill Press by Terry1967 & Benchtop Drill Press by riaanras, are kind of what I have in mind. The ingenuity and skills that are displayed is incredible. I look forward to learning and improving my skillsets.
