I can't help but wonder what percentage of those fingerlings and larger fish actually survive being dumped out of a plane.
Most catch and release programs in sport fishing want you to place the fish back in the water as gently as possible and you can actually be fined for just throwing them back into the water.Even when fishing for certain fish that are on keeper return size slot restrictions ,if a game warden observes a fisherman purposely throwing a fish he will cite them.
Well that is because our hands have usually touched the fish & we have oils in/on our pores.
My dad often told me of his travels during the Great Depression where he "first" witnessed "raining fish" & "raining frogs". He never joked so I knew it to be true. He & others would gather up the 4" and bigger "poddies"(fish: no frogs) to make meals. I was amazed they could still be jumping around after such a fall & he assured me they were still very much alive after hitting the ground(albeit somewhat wet).
We have all heard of "raining cats & dogs" from our Brittish/European ancestory where animals were located in the ceiling during heavy wets. Unfortunately there wasn't a propper floor above & animals would (( probably (I think) from scuffling for room)) fall through onto the people below.

Some what. In central Queensland there is no big water for many hundreds of miles. Spose it is a bit like that explorer Thor & his team who sailed the raft kon-tike (not sure of spelling) from south America to Polynesia. A U.S. naval ship supplied most of the equipment/wood as no one would finance the expedition: not even believed possible by National Geographic. Apparently he (Thor) couldn't swim: may be he had a big hammer. History was re- written right there in the fourties.

Cool. We will need all the tucker we can procure for the future. Interestingly many species cost more to breed than the end product is worth & currently not viable financially.
