The different spelling seems to depend on what part of the world your from.

Na, English is simple, it's all the bastardisation that's the problem.

We say sawn, not sawed, stuff like that, then there's dumb reporting techniques, a criminal or Police officer shoots and kill's someone, reporters write 'killed by' a gun, not the correct 'killed with' a gun, the 'killed by' should be attributed to the person responsible, no matter what their colour!

As long as nits are being picked, allow me to point out that the "their" above should be "his" since its antecedent is the singular "person". And, yes, "his", not "his/her". Grammar rules say that when the gender of the antecedent is unknown, the male form should be used.

I'm dyslexic so spelling and grammar cause other issues too.

But what if the gender is...

Related: I went into a gas station last night to get some windshield washer fluid. I reached out to open the door, and saw a great joke sign above the door handle. It was one of these:

One has to love the internet. My dumb video about my obsession with 2 jawed clamping devices has become a discussion about how we devise grammar.
