Why on earth would you want to cut up a wind turbine blade? Other than to destroy it for recycling or ?

They wear out. It is cheaper to haul them to the land fill when cut into smaller pieces. So much for the Eco-Friendlyness of wind power.

Although there may be some progress being made in the recycling process.

Thanks Hemmjo, so what is it that wears out, they flex too much and weaken and therefore for safety like helicopter blades ?

They are moving fast, and when they strike dust or water in the air it wears away the leading edge of the blade.
