How does it work?

If it is a mechanical float sensor by the time it tripped the interior of the house would have lots of water damage. Even if it is an electrical moisture sensing swithc that was still a lot of water poured over it before it closed. And if electrical what if the power was out.
While the idea may be sound the slowness of the application leaves much to be desired
