Captain,
Nice construction on your home made wood lathe. I have been following along on your builds and great to see the finished lathe. Is the blue cap on the spindle block a pilot light to let you know when the power is connected?
Paul
thanks Paul, yes it is a blue light special......:O)
I like power lights on my machines they are like running lights.
Thanks Captainleeward! We've added your Wood Lathe to our Wood Lathes category, as well as to your builder page: Captainleeward's Homemade Tools. Your receipt:

:idea:Great looking lathe, looks like a great deal of thought went into this. What size bowl can you turn on this? ANOTHER project on my bucket list. NOW I want to make one
Wow that's a good looking build!! I'd like to try a lathe build some time.
Aaron

Working on a similar project with a little different spin, what kind of paint did you use?
Hello Excelion, Just some brown hammered Rustolem spray paint from home depot. by the way I up graded this lathe to a dc tread mill motor and controller so I could change speed on the fly. thanks for looking...Cap.
Nice lathe build!!!!
Captain do you have a web site for more details?
Sorry wizard69, I don't I build these things on the fly, make a drawing on a napkin and away I go good luck.
Captain, I just noticed this lathe post, and wanted to say I really like it.
I am presently building a wood lathe, using, yes! A treadmill motor!
I hope you don't mind me sending you a private message concerng the build?
I have a treadmill motor question..
Sincerely,
Rick in Oregon
First class execution of a not so simple collection of features and parts. A certain US based global corporation likes to call that "...built in, not bolted on...".
Projects like Captainleeward's great lathe display far more ingenuity and real engineering than 'homemade' imply.
It doesn't give away a thing to like sized commercial units, short of old Yates-American (since 1883, but not lathes anymore) and Oliver (still produced but in name only).
And running lights? All us seafarers appreciate them.
Просто отлично! Попробую сделать что то подобное. Возникла необходимость в таком станке.
