    Well, that answers my internal pondering about whether an old washing machine motor would be suitable for a woodturning lathe.

    Well that is what I would call a real "WOOD" lathe.

    By the way washing machine motors are usually fairly robust however most of them are open frame. As such they are hard to suggest for a dust generator like this.
