Work bench upgrade and vice

I built this work bench some 50 years ago. It is heavy construction 14 ft. long. Legs are 4x4 and frame under the top is 2x6 with a cross member every 14 inches. The top is two 2x10 and a 2x6 at the rear. Last winter I upgraded it by adding a bunch of drawers on full extension ball bearing drawer slides as well as section with sliding doors as can be seen in the picture. About 10 years ago I bought a tail vice screw but never could decide how I was going to use. This winter I got it out and experimented with it on a piece of scrap wood clamped to the end of the bench. Since I couldn't cut into the end of the bench as traditional tail vices would be installed I came up with this idea. I also added a piece of hard maple to the front edge of the bench top to accommodate the bench dog holes. The lower shaft/guide runs in a bronze bushing. Thought I would pass this along.
