Wasn't sure who you were talking to Ed, but I think by the reference to the clamps maybe it was some of my cobbled stuff. So here's some pics of the main station I use with the grinders and drill press. Nothing earth shaking but is the pivot for the garage rumba I do every day.Attachment 10934Attachment 10935Attachment 10936

Thinking back I think the mystery rail came with the new dishwasher, but damned if I know how they were supposed to work so they went into the re purpose bin. Works great for hanging the grinder and vises.

My advice is you should use a toolbox, also called toolkit, tool chest or workbox. It is a box to organize, carry, and protect the owner's tools. They could be used for trade, a hobby or DIY, and their contents vary with the craft of the owner. It did work for me.

I have organized all of my mill and lathe tooling in roller cabinets. The Smithy combo is sitting on a US General 44' box with an 18' add on.

The Frankenmill has a dedicated Kennedy box.

Plenty of room for more and I know where everything is. The cabinets also keep the expensive stuff out of sight and out of the dust and dirt.
Material storgae for the lathe is done with a roll-a-round box I built. Plywood with compartments. Stores round and square stock, aluminum and steel.
