I thought the crane operator just jumped out and ran as a precaution and to escape the dust cloud.
I wonder if that operator can cast as well as he can swing

Surprisingly good hit on that column, wind up being not as random as it appeared. Interesting delay from impact to fracture and collapse.
From ~16 to 20 seconds, it does appear to be someone exits cab. A bit faster reaction compared with two observers lounging poolside!
