    Assembly or formation ships were stripped down B-17 and B-24 bombers with unique paint schemes designed to organize bomber formations quickly.

    Chuckle. Yeah, that was my first thought too. I had an image of us bombing the starving Dutch people with loaves of bread near the end of the war.

    Bread Bombing. Starving or not, can't picture Europeans eating that awful sponge-like white bread. Even makes me shudder. But even in the head, wouldn't hurt!

    After the starvation imposed by the Nazis, they would probably have relished a good loaf to the head, even if it were rubbery American bread.
