    Ha ha ha !!!

I married one of those "distinct females".
She was a navy brat, her dad was a master-chief on subs and her brother still works at the shipyard.

    Cheers!

PS: I just noticed that my (very old - one's in college now!) avatar pic was taken on the Bremerton ferry!

Not likely. It would have allowed the Luftwaffe to put 70-100 more planes into the fight. The british advantage in radar, and perhaps more importantly that they had home field advantage, which meant that the RAF pilots were able to refuel and rearm multiple times during an attack. And any aircraft carrier within range would have been under constant attack by air and by submarine. History showed that Hitler was almost completely unwilling to commit his biggest and most flashy ships to unrestricted battle. The typical Luftwaffe pilot was only able fly over England for 15-20 minutes, then had to fly back across the Channel, limiting each pilot to a single sortie per day. At most it would have prolonged the battle somewhat. Hitler would have realized Goerring's boasting was just that, just as he actually did.

MeJacksonT....your claim that one German aircraft carrier would have defeated Britain and the RAF is rubbish despite your pretense that history supports you. My father was an RAF/RCAF spitfire and Mosquito pilot during the B of B and saw that despite horrendous losses, the RAF was never even close to being depleted. One aircraft carrier would have had to be close enough to Britain to become a prize target for the RN, which dominated the entire North Sea and the Atlantic coastal area. That aircraft carrier would have been history had the Nazis tried to get near enough to make a difference. They didn't need an aircraft carrier, they had bases all along the French coast and were able to threaten Britain very well, thank you. Now had they succeeded in destroying the British radar stations on the east coast, then things might have come out differently. By the way, It "layed" in the Baltic sea should read, it "lay or laid" in the Baltic sea. Admittedly it was a close run thing but the Brits weren't alone as the commonwealth and other Allied airmen were there to replace Britians's losses, including with equipment and planes as needed. The Brits even tried out American fighters later in the war.
