Homemade Brinell hardness tester intended specifically for bullets. Fashioned from a 44 Magnum crimp die, ball bearing, and indenters.

Read nearly all your post. The USB camera utilization is great. Essentially a Toolmakers Microscope. Use of bearings produces better indent from higher surface finish . You'll gain accuracy if surface to measure and scale are on same plane of Z axis. Surface supporting BHN tester is best if hard enough to not impart deflection which 'deadens' pressure applied.
