what kind of power supply are you using.? It looks like a unit out of a large computer server. Nice job, by the way. :clapping:
It is AC/DC power supply 90V~260V AC Input, Single Output 500w 18v
I don't think this PS used in a server of any kind, most likely this one can be used as a LED driver
Hi The Fe Factor,
Very nice work! I'm sure that a lot of guys will be interested in building one of these for themselves. Your Cordless Driver Power Supply is the 'Tool of the Week'!
You'll be receiving one of our official HomemadeTools.net T-shirts:
Attachment 3094
If you've already received one of our official HomemadeTools.net T-shirts, we'd be glad to award you a $25 online gift card from GiftRocket. Your choice!
Either way, just let me have (via PM) your details (size, color choice, and mailing address for the shirt or email address for the gift card) and we'll get things processed directly.
Congrats!

Hi,
Great post Mr Fe Factor !
It's pretty much the same solution as the one that I already presented here, also with a LED power supply (12V mine), but your build is much more well finished, that's really great !
I completely share your opinion, I hate waiting for battery charging while I'm in the flow of doing things.
I find great your idea of assembling the full thing in a tool box, with the benefit of tidying up your cable and possibly other bits.
Great idea, I will try to find one like that also !
Great emulation on HMT, each one improving the solutions of the other, that's really what I like !
Cheers,
Christophe
Thank you Ken. I'll send a PM in a little bit.
Thank you Christophe!
If I to change anything about this set up it is the size of the tool box.
The one I got is 6.5" x 7" x 15" and it is a little crowded with the 18' long power cord coiled up inside of it and possibly splice the power cord with a power connector right at the battery, so if I need to power up a 12V tool I could simply swap a battery with a step down housed inside of the battery/adapter case
The hardest part of the whole project was the search for the 18V power supply which can produce 20A +
Awesome job. Thanks for sharing such an informative video.
