Homemade Extended Height Jackstands

DESCRIPTION:
Homemade extended height jackstands fashioned by cutting a standard jackstand at the neck and welding in a 2x4 tube. Two lengths of 1x1/4 flat bar were utilized to brace the extension to the base.

This seems useful but I am a bit nervous about the wisdom of using this approach.  If I had my valuable car up on four of these I suspect I'd devise a backup plan...just in case something wiggles when it shouldn't.
