Homemade tail vise adapted from a pipe clamp by means of drilling dog holes into the tail end of the bench, tapping the holes, and inserting a threaded pipe to which the clamp is attached.

OK, this is pretty cool...I wonder about the life expectancy of those wooden threads in the table top holding a steel pipe under pressure...but if the threads hold...voila.
