So it has been a while since I have built anything worthy of posting, but I just completed a hoist for the ventilated shop space and it might be of interest for some here. The first picture is my initial drawing, based on the materials I had available. It changed as heavier material became available.
My trolley and chain hoist are both 1 ton but the I beam and mounting can except up to a 3 ton trolley and hoist, if the need arises. It was a quick project that generated lots of pictures. You can see the full build here Hobby Workshop Projects: workshop hoist.

] here) through part of a broken patio stone in the bottom, lined up my post and filled the hole with concrete. The shaped patio stone you see around the post is the top of the pour.
