Awesome work. The wooden box on a welder is no bueno. 1/8" aluminum is nice to work with if your experience and tooling is working with wood. You can even cut it with a circular saw. And the aluminum will help dissipate a lot of heat.
It might be more useful to people reading you comment if you explained why you are saying that a wood box is "no bueno". I assume your main concern is not heat but that is what you mentioned.

I was trying to be soft with my language by opening with a compliment before, but catching things on fire is just part of arc welding. Be careful and keep an eye on that machine.
