That took me on a circuitous route to here: https://www.mysteriesofcanada.com/ca...dry-company-1/ and the story of Vincent Burnelli. (his story starts in part 3, but I've heard of Elsie McGill before as well.

Thanks for the rabbit hole trip Bruce. One of my uncles worked at Convair General Dynamics division in Ft Worth. As you may suspect yes Consolidated Vultee IE Convair had roots in Canadair He worked there over a total of a 40 year span with a few layoff breaks. In his vast library he had books of just about everything aviation wise you could think of. Us kids were not allowed to **** around with them very much but he also had every issue of Popular Science popular Mechanics, Mechanics illustrated Science & mechanics, Life magazine. National Geographic and far too many more to list from the first issues right up until he died just a dozen years ago. We were allowed to read the magazines as long as we returned them to the correct place
I seem to remember either in PoP Sci or Pop Mech reading an article about the Burnelli aircraft but that has been over 55 years ago I would guess
Your search brought back some faint memories of ti again Thanks.
