Looks like the combination of a 1970 Fiat 850 Spider, 1983 Pontiac Fiero, and 1968 Opel GT, all rolled into one. Ahead of its time.

Good observations. I had 68 and 72 Opel GTs. Great sports car of their day. 1900cc engine easy to improve with a cam, headers, sharper ignition and a Weber 32/36. Good fun to drive...now the Saabs...I was parking cars at Harrah's South Lake Tahoe in 1980 and they sent me after a Saab in the South lot...do ya think I could find the ignition switch?...sort of like sending the Tenderfoot Scout out for a left handed smoke-shifter...cheers

...and wasn't the Avanti a breath of fresh air in boring early 60's car designs...

Very cool car. Powered by a 2-stroke triple. It's front wheel drive though.
