I still have a set of plans for this car that I purchased way back when. I had high hopes, but life got in the way.

I wonder if it is as unstable as the Reliant Robin even though it has a slightly lower centre of gravity

The plans called out either a 48v aircraft starter motor, or a 22hp v-twin gas engine, set over and behind the drive axle, coupled by multiple v belts to a pulley attached to the differential, which was from a Datsun donor, I believe. The batteries for the electric version fit down a center trunk between the seats and across the vehicle behind the seats. So yes, the cg was low and far back. However, the instability was always a point of concern for me.

I was always more drawn to the Tri-Magnum, from the same era. It seemed more stable and didn't look as goofy.

Oh yes indeed! I've tried many times to figure out how to make a drive/steer forward-rear engine three-wheeler. Seems like a good idea. And I remember the Tri-magnum from Popular Mechanix, but I don't remember exactly when.

Looks like an old Kenner SSP racer I had when I was a kid!
