Kindly post link to your Motor speed Controller used...
thanks
Electricity is magic for me. This caught my eye as I'd like to build a reversible grinder out of a motor like this. So my question is, is this an AC or DC Motor? Thanks.
Kenny
The washing machine motor can be powered by AC or DC.
I would say the motor is most likely an AC 220V judging by the type of plug on the end of the cord.
There are DC motors that run on AC or DC such as some older angle grinders and single speed drill motors.
My concern is if you are planning on making a reversable grinder you need to pay particular attention to how you secure the grinding wheel, disk, brush or belt to the arbor, because the inertia of the motor starting or the friction against the grinding wheel can cause the securing nut to loosen, and the wheel to come off. This is the same problem some lathes have, when reversing the chucks can come off.
