Just clamping a block against the fence a few inches in front of the blade is all you need. That flip block idea is nothing but trouble waiting to happen.

Thank you for the reply. For most of the time you couldn’t be more right. But with a jig and a wider board where you need the jig to be a little closer, this idea really shines.
