3" dog ear Clevis pin
made out of 1045 round bar
this is how I made a 3" diameter 6" long dog eared clevises pin
first, I turned the bar down to 3"-003"n and cut it to length
Attachment 45494
then laid out the dog ear

Attachment 45496
I will do nearly anything to keep from having to change from 3 jaw to 4 jaw or vice versa My lathe has the short nose spindle so the chucks are held on with bolts and a real pain to change
Attachment 45497
Attachment 45498
next to drill the 1 3/16" hole
Attachment 45499
Even had a chance to use one of my new reamers
Attachment 45500
I pressed the ear onto the pin

Attachment 45503
Then since there is a thickness issue between the 3" pin and the 1/2" ear to insure proper weld fusion it is always best to pre heat very thick metals before welding
Attachment 45502
First pass
Attachment 45504
Needle scaled the flux off between passes waited a minute between passes
