3 ton free standing jib crane

Ok actually if you were to install a 7 ton hoist on it and loaded it all the way out to the end of the boom the crane would have still be safe and stable I built this for a maintenance facility that repaired vehicles for the US Army so the rating had to be graded according to Government standards

Was this done for a facility in Texas, Frank? If you were engaged solely on this, may I ask, how long it took?

No Philip, I designed it did the machining and welding, prepared the civil and structural analysis report then hand walked it through the department of projects and planning at Camp Arifjan Kuwait to be installed in the civilian maintenance facility. I had a few of my guys doing much of the grunt work assisting in handling sand blasting and painting plus they did the excavation, my hands don't fit jack hammers and shovels from the proposal of the contract to the testing and completion and payment took a few months. I suspect my being a member of the Kuwait society of engineers at the time, and being an American had a lot to do with getting the contract, but so did my contract to construct a set of prestressed concrete bridge beam forms we made and sent to Afghanistan.

One of these days Frank, I'm going to make it out to TX and when I do, I'd like to meet you. I'm betting you've got stories for days from your past career adventures.

    Nice work!

ive imagined a nice little retirement work shop with such a crane. Old age makes you reach for mechanical help on even former light things.

That is because old age makes you a wee-bit smarter!!! Has to or we would not have made it this far. 😁
