Before moving from Illinois, I used to hang around with a bunch of blacksmith/gun/ explosives/ metal casting guys. One night one of the guys brought a 50 cal and doing target shots. One of the other guys asked to shoot. He had his eye right up to the scope so he could see really well. You can imagine what the recoil did, he was thereafter known as “scope eye”. Took about a month to get back to normal.
