    In cases like that, I just use a screw and a right angle drill to screw it in.

    That adjustable claw would be useless as a claw unless it can survive the full possible applied force on the handle to remove a nail. Not many right angled drills are all that compact either> I've used the heal and toe of a crowbar and a block of wool to push nails home by prying against the head of the nail adding more wedges to fill the gap between the toe of the crowbar the nail head and the adjacent stringer. By being careful you can push a 3" nail all the way in when starting with only a 3 and a 1/4" space.
