As much as it pains me to do this, I feel it has become imperative to print a retraction to my post #21. As it has come to my attention the so-called AI everyone seems to be enamored with actually can be dumbed down below the cognitive ability of a bureaucrat. Now there is a huge hubbub on the airwaves about AI changing the ethnicity of whole cultures and accomplishments of known individuals. To me this boils down to the phrase in early computing "garbage in garbage out" the AI algorithm needs to be renamed to Artificially generated real ignorance or purposely generated real ignorance, "AGRI or PGRI". If left unchecked there becomes the real possibility of a whole generation of being taught the opposite of what was once historically documented.

You must be referring to good ol' racist Google. They recently released an AI image update, and when people asked it to generate photos of American revolutionaries, Founding Fathers, British royalty etc. - they modified history to present pictures of African-descended people, Native Americans, or women. It changed people's queries to "diversify" history. Google is enamored with melanated people, specifically African descendants. They've been forced to apologize, and are now supposedly "fixing" the issue. A high ranking Google exec's Twitter account was scrubbed after his numerous anti-White statements were highlighted. A good summary is here: https://www.piratewires.com/p/google-gemini-race-art

It's also all over the mainstream news: Google's Woke Image Generator Shows the Limits of AI, Google apologizes after new Gemini AI refuses to show pictures, achievements of White people, Google Stops Gemini AI From Making Images Of People—After Musk Calls Service ‘Woke’.

Google has been doing this for years. Type American mathematicians or American inventors or American scientists into Google, and click the Images tab at top, and you'll see how the top results disproportionately favor African descended people (who in reality make up 12.5% of Americans), women, and the occasional Native American.

African-descended Americans have made significant contributions to American society, particularly in the areas of athletics, popular music, entertainment, etc. Google presents them as some sort of benevolent super genius race, and tosses in a few Native Americans to look extra politically correct.

The new feature from OpenAI is the development of 60-second videos from a short text prompt. Example prompt:

"A movie trailer featuring the adventures of the 30 year old space man wearing a red wool knitted motorcycle helmet, blue sky, salt desert, cinematic style, shot on 35mm film, vivid colors."

Despite all of the doom-and-gloom warnings of people now easily making "fake" videos, I am cautiously optimistic that this development may eventually be able to address the current problem with the glut of low-quality films, by drastically lowering the cost of filmmaking for independent filmmakers. If it can make Hollywood actors and actresses useless, even better.

If people find ways to make money with this, someone else will figure out a way to control it then ruin it for everyone.

Check out this realtime AI image generator: https://fastsdxl.ai/

You enter a prompt and it generates the image as you type.

Example prompt: "A cat wearing a red hat while operating a homemade lathe".

Another prompt: "A man building a homemade bandsaw while smoking a tobacco pipe and wearing a suit."

    Hi Gang:

I played with this AI and found it had trouble with keeping railroad tracks straight and number of arms on people.

We need to reward "truth" and expose lies before we make wrong decisions.

I previously thought that the "AI girlfriend" bit was kind of a joke. Today I heard about the popular subreddit MyBoyfriendIsAI. It does also include discussion about AI girlfriends for males, but, interestingly, most of the posters are female, with male AI boyfriends. And husbands. "We're getting married" is a common topic, with the same photographs of a woman showing off her new ring, just like you see on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.
