    My exposure to motor work is due to the pump shop; most WAY larger hp and physically than I'm concerned with. Mine are 440v 3ph 60hz except two 50's, primarily spindle and feed drives, largest at 10hp. Mine have sat a long time, so insulation is first concern, fortunately not from vermin gnawing conductors. With none ever wired as a group, rotation logically is next to address. Idea of continuity preparation, before energizing the first volt or amp, is worthwhile.

    Sounds as two of us can initiate that thread, and attract more input.
