Amphibious excavator poling itself downriver - GIF

That's pretty cool. I've actually seen something similar in person before. It was an excavator on a barge. He was dredging a river that fed into Lake Huron. I watched him for days. That guy was a master at paddling the excavator back and forth, but also walking the excavator just the right amount on the barge. Interesting stuff.

Impressive skills. Brings a whole new meaning to the Breast Stroke or Butterfly.

Same concept, but with regular excavator on raft.

Wouldn't want to be much deeper or loose control due to the reach. Nice to watch.
before I had my ticket , about 22 years ago, I employed a chap to dig a trench with a 4x4 back hoe then had him go down to my creek (I already had a wide path for access done by a drott previously) . The small job at the creek involved moving a large eucalyptus log left by floodwaters preventing the almost pristene area from easy maintenance. Well, he ignored my advice and got bogged: so had to drag the back hoe through the beautiful creek as the being bogged became worse in trying to go back to start where I originally advised. The mess was incredible.& he had the hide to ask for extra cash for time spent retrieving his machine & minor damage to his prosthetic leg.
HAND REPAIR WITH A POST HOLE SHOVEL.
THE LOG IS STILL WHERE IT WAS, despite the numerous floods since then over more than 20 years.

Good thing his steering is set up correctly on optimistic Prime.
My friend was alone in back areas & went to retrieve a stuck D9 when gravel road gave way within a slip. He did the same thing with excavator on low loader.

That's one way to make a lasting impression with the folks at the road department.
