It's a shame he had to learn that lesson like that. Angle grinders tend not to be given the proper respect and few seem to realize that one touch from the edge of a cutoff wheel and that meat is gone forever. Fat jesus on a tricycle, it eats steel - what do you think it will do to soft tissue? Add to that the tendency of folks to bolt all manner of sketchy things onto the high speed spindle and you've got a perfect storm of danger.

I'll admit it, I'm dumb enough to do something like this.

It's FAKE. Run it in slow motion and you will see the cord disappear. It also is unplugged while he was supposedly using it. Come on people, pay attention!

I ran it frame by frame and I couldn't quite tell if it came unplugged or was already unplugged. But there are several frames that have been blurred and I don't think the grinder would be going ballistic enough to completely blur out especially as it fell to the floor.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

The extension plug drops off the table and unplugs the grinder. He must have had the trigger lock on, picks up the extension and plugs the grinder in. The direction of rotation and the initial start kick would be enough to throw the tool that distance. Hopefully he did not have a toothed blade in it, although it looks like a possibility.

Fake or not, it could’ve been a lot worse! Yesterday I leant against my bench with my hip and set the grinder going! That made me jump! I do not know how it could happen either, since it needs a double motion to switch on.

Looks real to me right up to the shirt being lifted (look at the bottom of the shirt when it contacts his shoulder) as the cutting wheel hit it. It was running until the shady power strip he was plugged into dropped off the table. The force of the tool spinning up instantly caused it to twist and the blade to contact the table causing it to "jump" off the table. The reason you think it disappears is it rips the makeshift dust mask off of him and wraps it up so it's just a white blob as it drops to the floor. It might also be the reason this was not a much bloodier scene.

I think that the disappearing cord is an artifact of the potato-quality video. Low resolution makes things look like that.

I too often surprise myself with how easy it is to be careless.
