Back in 1972, I worked at a factory, that made Ball Bearing RACES.
At the Sign In Clock, the usual "info board" for notices, and Days without Accidents.
On that poster, was a set of (real) SAFETY GLASSES, of which one lenses STILL had the "OBJECT" that the lense STOPPED, yet WAS penetrated, by a piece of 10 Gauge Steel.
LATER, I worked in "Contractors Lumber Yard", during slack time the BOSS & I would cut up 1×2 & 2×2 Stakes, for forms, etc. One day the bosses Aluminum Hard Hat, (full rim, not the hard ball cap style) FELL off his head, Hit the 10 inch saw blade, WAS TOSSED (right past ME), and flew 25 feet. The Boss turned OFF the saw, calmly walked over, returning that SAFETY hard hat, to His Head, returned & fired up the saw, right BACK to WORK.bHe later agreed He COULD get a new hat BUT wearing That One was a REMINDER... That gash let in LOTS of Washington Rain....
I have seen MORE accidents since those First two, & EVERYONE of them a Constant reminder to Viligence.
I do not care for the particular video shown, I have no desire to Yay or Nay its TRUTHFULLNESS, the point was made:
BE AWARE, that ALL high speed Spinning objects are ALWAYS capable of ~bad things~.
I use Dremel Style 1 inch cut off disks, as well as there Larger "Fiber Reinforced" variety. THEY all EXPLODE. Regardless HOW careful I am.
So, Safety Glasses, PLUS a face shield, during my hours using those abrasive disks (and my 4" *LARGE* Disks.
