Somewhere I have a smaller version of a press very similar to that one

If you have it most probably came out of an office, as they were used in an early
copying process, which involved dampened paper being inter-leaved with an stencil like sheet...
People, especially antique dealers erroneously describe them as book presses, whereas the correct term is copying press.
The 1906 Fairbanks cat I took the pic of, lists over twenty different styles and a couple that could be coupled to the office water supply for pressure!
