is the display always right there in front of my eyes? if so that would seem to me that would be irritating I can care less how many steps I have taken and sure don't need a location map display. if the lenz allow me to zoom in say 100x then might be worth the trouble 1000 x would be really nice though, maybe I could see those steel splinters I always get when using a burr in a die grinder

I spotted this a few days ago. I don't believe it. You can't have something on the lens of your eye and recreate an image on your retina. I smell an investor scam.

The number of scam startups that have cropped up in the last few years is absolutely obscene. Not too long ago I worked with one. So long as they sound futuristic or hit at least one of the buzzwords (carbon, hydrogen, machine learning, blockchain, cloud computing, nano, graphene, NFTs, and probably some others I'm forgetting) people will POUR money into that company. The idea doesn't even have to make sense. For example, in 2017 Long Island Iced Tea renamed themselves Long Blockchain Corp and their stock price tripled.

This is either trolling or a scam. Even if the technology could put imagery on a surface as small as that lens, it would have to be EXTREMELY high resolution to be useful- not 4k, not 8k, more like at least 40k, if not double or triple that. Think about it- even with a good 4k television with a 65" screen, how far do you need to be in order not to be distracted by lack of clarity. Seriously, pause a program and move closer and closer to the screen. Now imagine that screen SITTING ON YOUR CORNEA. We are talking about technology developed thirty years from now, if even possible by then. If by some miracle this was achieved now, we would be looking at a six or seven figure device being marketed as a toy, and the inventors would be looking at the Nobel Prize.

But there's another problem- I do not believe the human eye could adjust itself to view anything nearly that close. Just trying to do so would seriously tax the brain, with painful effects and loss of cognitive ability.

That mask will also take you to augmented reality. . .

So, I went and did some looking around at how this thing supposedly works, and it's pretty cool and certainly doable. The outer ring holds power and processing components, while the tiny tip on the stalk carries a microled display. The display isn't particularly high resolution, but it's plenty good enough to project even photographic images onto your retina (not at photo quality, of course). So, you'd have basically a clear view past all the stuff in the contact. The image would appear as if it were out in your field of vision at the same distance as the subject you are observing. Personally, I think this is like that cell phone I had back in the 80s: Clunky, expensive, and not so powerful. But it demonstrates we can do it with today's technology. I can see this, without involving augmented reality, actually being a real, I-can-buy-it thing in not so many years.

Edit: I just wrote something really dumb. Please disregard.

...but I still think this is an investor scam.
