AXA QCTP Tool Holders

I made 8 QCTP Tool Holders for an AXA size tool post. Made from 1018 CRS, Stud Stressproof 3/8" 1144, Adjusting Nut 360 Brass, 5/16-18 SHSS, 3/8-24 hex nut. See me make these on You Tube at " Randy Richard In The Shop".

Considering the amount work you did, if it were not for enjoyment as well as education for many of us, would it have been more economical and almost as good quality to go out and buy some of the cheaper holders?

Strictly on the economics, I had about $30.00 in to it, saved maybe $100.00. Fair amount of time, but I have a lot of time. I would of had these tool holders done in 3-4 days but the filming is very time consuming so projects take me over twice as long to complete. I make things mostly for the enjoyment and satisfaction of creation. I am able to put my own twist on items. I make many items for friends so they to can enjoy. The needle knot tool is one of them. I also have a pile of the oil cans. Thank you for your interest and for watching.

I realize this comes a few years late, but thanks for sharing your build and technique(s). I also started carving out an AXA style QC tool holder of my own, but goofed on a dimension, so need to start over.

One question regarding using cold rolled mild steel... did you find you had to adjust any of your dimensions, to compensate for distortion of the metal (due to the CR process)? I tried to build some V blocks using CR, but the angles ended up wide due to released stresses in the metal.
