    I don't think using a bead seater is a good tool for cleaning filter media. More likely to blast a hole.
    I find just tapping the bottom edge of the filter on the side of something, where the dirt and dust can fall freely to the ground. I've done it on the inside of a plastic garbage can when I want to control the mess, but the dust cloud is not something I want to breath in.

    Looks like me cleaning my vacuum filter. I use compressed air and a thin screw driver in the garage can. I wear a face mask too. Wicked stuff to inhale.
