BMW Isetta microcar- photos

First built by the Italian firm Iso SpA in 1953, the Isetta microcar was known for its single front door used for entry and egress. In the event of a crash, the driver and passenger were to exit through the canvas sunroof. Several iterations were built under license by BMW, the French firm VELAM, De Carlo of Argentina, and Romi-Isetta of Brazil.

I reckon the one with the quarter vents had to be the winner when one of the occupants had flatulence.

I remember in my youth a car magazine had a feature on one of these with an Allison aircraft engine tucked into it. I also remember the local small town wrecking yard guy put one in a `46 Ford sedan. You could hear that all over town when he fired it up. Small town..
