The most interesting featured of this trimaran, built by Harrymaya on PinoyBoats.org, is the wood used in its construction: coconut. The builder's strategy is to reduce weight by using carefully selected coconut wood instead of plywood. Older, tightly-grained, flecked coconut lumber is dried indoors for six months, and put through a thicknesser to yield 12'x42mmx6mm planks. The planks are sprayed with pesticide, and then the glass is applied. The result: a lightweight, strong trimaran built for speed.
